Armor

I now own a mouth guard. I bought today it from the orthodontist, who recommended it to me when I got these braces on a month ago. "For any kind of contact sport."

There's a strap so one can attach it to a football or hockey helmet. I wonder if it would strap on to a TKD helment (I don't have one yet as orange belts don't kick to the front of the head).

I don't think I'll wear it. I can't close my mouth completely when it's in.

It's a bit scary to contemplate.

Wear it. Better to get used to the fact that you have to have the damn thing in your mouth than to spend your first sparring match miserable to tears because you haven't learned to breathe around it. At least, that's my philosophy.

And as for not being able to close your mouth completely, it's not so bad. I'm one of the smallest people (barring the children) at my university-administered dojang, and my mouth doesn't quite close around my mouthguard, either. But it slightly freaks my larger classmates out because my face is so contorted, and because it changes my kiap to an angry grunt instead of a yell. :)
